The JBee Maths Muncher Program is a one on one, hands on interactive tutoring program that breaks mathematical skills into small bite size pieces. It identifies exactly what level the student is at with each skill and sets small, achievable goals so that students quickly see goals being met and can see exactly which goals they are aiming to achive.
Each session contains 3-4 different components: usually including a review, goal setting, hands on game or activity, practice activities - written, verbal or hands on; and goal setting.
Included:
All games, activities, worksheets and assessments.
Materials for your child to practice with during the week.
Maths Master is a Mathematics Enrichment program. It is designed specifically for primary aged children who are gifted, high achievers or fast learners. It is a program that provides enrichment through mathematical projects and challenges.
It is designed to supplement normal classroom teaching and therefore does not follow the whole mathematics curriculum. The Maths Master program will enrich and challenge students who might otherwise find normal curriculum at their level, boring and too easy.
These tutoring sessions are NOT designed to assist students with their homework.
The Maths Master program will normally focus on two areas:
1) Extension of number facts and calculations to higher numbers; exploring patterns and applying rules from basic number facts to much larger numbers. This will include games and a variety of activities and challenges.
2) An enrichment program exploring mathematical concepts. These projects will be selected with both the student's interest in mind and level of skills.
Sample projects are:
"How Big is Big?" - an exploration of numbers up to and larger than a million in real life applications.
"Home Renovation" - real life application of measurement skills including money, area, etc.
"Doggy Dilemma" - exploring budget and responsibilities of owning a dog.
"Australia vs The World" - a look at geography and statistics.

A safe space that is relatively quiet and free of distractions. (I know this is not always possible, but preferable). I always leave a door open if the space is not easily visible. Parents are free to come and go to observe, but are requested to refrain from interacting unless requested. Other children are not permitted to interact.
A table or desk that is clean and free for working and games, preferably not a low coffee table. If the only space is the kitchen table, it is requested to be clear and clean.

OPTION 1: "NUMBER FACTS - NO MORE GAPS"
Develop a whole school approach to teach number facts in a sequential order that builds on known skills from one year to the next. Are you certain you are covering all the skills?
This 2 hour program looks at the complete set of number fact skills with a sequential approach from year to year. Not only will you come away with confidence that you know which skills to cover, but you will also have a tool kit of games and activities to practice those number skills. This program will give you a great teaching resource to ensure you cover all the number facts.
Suitable for classroom teachers, mathematics coordinators.
OPTION 2: "NUMBER FACTS - TOOLBOX FOR OVERCOMING BOREDOM & FEAR"
Learning multiplaction facts and other number facts are a key skill to learning most other mathematical skills. However, students who have difficulty learning these skills quickly develop negative attitudes towards maths and they lose their confidence. This program will give you an approach to learning these skills that quickly builds student confidence. By the end of this session, you will have a toolbox of resources and games that you can use immediately in your classroom.
Suitable for classroom teachers, teaching aides, maths intervention teachers.
All teachers are issued with a certificate detailing the APST standards referenced, course hours and date of completion.
Course Certification
On completion of this workshop, you will be issued with a certificate of completion to satisfy requirements for continuing registration with VIT and for your own professional records.
This course is recognised by VIT as contributing 2 hours of professional learning addressing APST: 1.2, 1.5, 2.2, 2.5, 3.1, 3.3, 5.1, 5.2

Some products will come in a zip file which needs to be opened and files extracted.
That depends on the program and your goals for your child.
Maths Master students may continue on this program for years if they enjoy the challenge and find the program enriching.
Maths Muncher students will usually benefit from a minimum of two terms, depending on the level of intervention and assistance required. It can sometimes take a term to overcome very negative attitudes. Students usually start seeing small goals being achieved within the first couple of weeks. Some students may benefit from continuing on the program for several years to maintain confidence and to contuie gaining support with ongoing learning needs. Some students may only need two terms to catch up and gain confidence, and may be ready to continue on without individual support.
