This is a collection of 19 Multiplication Games using strategy and luck to practice your multiplication tables. This game is a printable worksheet. Players race to cover all the answers with their chosen animal, but think carefully about your strategy because as you win more counters, you can use them to help your own animal win or slow down your opponent. You can also choose to save your counters to rescue your animal if your opponent chooses to take your counters.
19 different games are included—all in a black & white option and a colour option. Students can play a game that helps to practice a Focus Multiplication Fact (like X 3) or a mix of multiplication facts up to 10 x 10 or 12 x 12.
HOW TO PLAY:
OPTION 1: Copy and laminate the colour game board and reuse over and over again, using counters to cover the numbers.
OPTION 2: Print the game board in black / white. Use this to either play the game or as a worksheet, rolling dice and colouring the answer.
Game for 1, 2, 3 or 4 players.
You will need:
One game board. Choose the Focus Multiplication Fact you need to practice.
About 20 counters each - any colour, preferably transparent. Place all counters in a bank pile.
Either two 6-side dice or one 12-side dice.
Each player chooses an animal. If playing on your own, take turns with each animal.
GAME ONE: If using two 6-sided dice:
Each player chooses an Australian animal. Choose a matching Australian Animal Save Pile Card.
Place all counters in a Bank Pile, ready to start the game.
Roll the dice and add together. Multiply by the Focus Multiplication Fact on the Game Board.
Cover the matching number on your animal with a counter from the Bank Pile.
Continue to take turns.
If you have already covered your number, it’s time for strategy!
Choose whether to take a bonus counter from the BANK PILE and keep it in your SAVE PILE .
OR Take a counter off your opponent’s matching number. (If your counters aren’t transparent, choose a random counter.)
If someone tries to take a counter away from you, you can choose whether to let them take the counter away OR if you have a counter in your SAVE PILE give them your counter to use wherever they want to use it.
How to Win: The first animal to have all numbers covered by counters, wins the race!
GAME TWO: If using 12-sided dice:
Roll and multiply by the Focus Multiplication Fact on the Game Board. Colour or Cover the matching number.
The game is played the same as above.
If you roll a 1, take one counter off your opponent you choose which one to take—You can choose whether to place it in your Save Pile or on your Race Score Card.
How to Win: The first animal to have all numbers covered by counters, wins the race!
